The qualifying period for all CHSA Finals Divisions will now begin August 1, 2011 and end Sunday, July 29, 2012.  Points will be retroactive to August 1st, 2011, for all Divisions.  This includes all Pleasure, Hunter and Low Training Jumpers Divisions. UPDATED QUALIFICATION FOR CHSA FINALS

Riders qualify by accumulating points in CHSA Classes held at Recognized CHSA Shows during the qualifying period. The qualifying period for the 2012 CHSA Finals runs from August 1, 2011 to Sunday, July 29, 2012. In determining the date of a competition, the day the show begins is used.

The Top 20 riders/horses in eligible CHSA Divisions qualify and are invited to the CHSA Finals. To be eligible each CHSA Division must have a minimum of 10 riders/horses with each having accumulated more than 25 points during the qualifying period which started August 1, 2011 and ends on Sunday, July 29, 2012.

CHSA English Pleasure riders/horses will only need 12 points to qualify, but still must have a minimum of 10 riders/horses with each having more than 12 points by the qualifying deadline.

The Show Committee may, at its discretion, designate a lower minimum number of qualifying points for any given Year End Division.

Lead Rein, and Modified Children’s Hunter Demonstration Classes

For the last three years, by popular request, the Finals Committee offered a new section to the show – a Lead Rein Demonstration Class, which is being offered again this year.

In keeping with the goal of our Finals to encourage and promote interest in the beginner and intermediate classes for members, the Finals Committee
has again decided to offer a 2’6” Modified Children’s Hunter class for our Children’s Equitation riders.

The Modified Children’s Hunter Division will only be open to riders who qualify for the 2011 CHSA Finals Children’s Equitation Medal and who show in the CHSA Children’s Equitation Medal at the 2011 CHSA Finals.  The Modified Children’s Hunter Division will run on Saturday, August 27th and the Children’s Equitation Medal will run on Sunday, August 28th.

Please join your fellow CHSA members at the 2011 CHSA Finals on Friday, August 26, Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Inc.

Please review the enclosed 2011 CHSA Finals Prize List and Rules of the Competition.

Next, fill out the following forms included in this mailing:

1. 2011 CHSA Finals Entry Form – Fill out the enclosed Entry Form. Don’t forget your pants size as we have a special gift for you!
2. Stall Reservation Form – Fill out the enclosed Stall Reservation Form including shavings and hay as needed.  All stalls must be paid in advance.
3. Cookout Reservation Form – Fill out the enclosed Cookout Reservation form to reserve your meal for the cookout to be held Saturday night from 6 – 8 pm. ($10 per person)
4. Tent Table Reservation Form – Reserve your table under the Nutrena Tent. Each table seats 8 people.  Tables under the tents can only be reserved in advance and are $150 each.
5. Support the 2011 CHSA Finals – Please consider becoming a CHSA Finals Medalist Sponsor or purchase a Congratulatory Message in the Finals program.

To reserve your place in the 2011 CHSA Finals your completed entry form along with a prepaid check must be mailed and received by Friday, August 12, 2011.  All forms must be filled out in their entirety including all signatures and membership numbers.  If you are under the age of 18, the entry form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.  In order to participate in the CHSA Finals it is necessary that both rider and horse or pony be CHSA members.  Please include these membership numbers on the Entry Form.

 Subway - Subway has generously donated subs for each rider and trainer.  Please go to the Nutrena Tent and claim your sub each day of the CHSA Finals.  Only one Subway sub per Exhibitor and Trainer. Your trainer must be listed on your entry form to be eligible.

Nutrena and Ocean State Equine Associates Ice Cream Social – Nutrena will be hosting an old fashion Ice Cream Social under the Nutrena Tent on Saturday at approximately 3:00pm.  Ocean State Equine Associates will be hosting the Sunday Ice Cream Social at approximately 3:00 pm.  Ice cream will be served with your favorite toppings and whipped cream!

Cookout – Exhibitors Cookout Saturday, August 27, 2011 under the big tent from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  All Exhibitors, Trainers, Friends and Family are invited to attend.  The Cookout is $10 per person and you have your choice of hamburger, hotdogs, veggie burgers, boneless grilled chicken each with 2 sides.  Lemonade and Ice tea will be available with cookies or brownies and some watermelon for desert.  The cookout will be catered by Thom of Request A Chef.  We need you to fill out the attached form to reserve your meal at the Cookout.

Once again we will be holding a demonstration Lead Rein class at the 2011 CHSA Finals. Many trainers and parents have asked us to continue to include Lead Rein in the CHSA Finals and the CHSA Finals Committee enthusiastically agreed to offer the class again this year.

The Details:

• The Lead Rein class will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 between Noon and 3pm.
• In order to participate in the demonstration class the rider must be a CHSA Member prior to August 1st, 2011.
• Open to children under 7 who have not competed in any riding or driving classes other
  than Lead Rein.
• We will take the first 20 Lead Rein entries. View Lead Rein Entry Form
• The Fee for the class will be $50, no other fees will be charged including no office fee.
• Handlers will need to be in proper show clothes or dress clothes, please no jeans.
• Specifications – Entries will be asked to trot individually.  The entries will be judged on the basis of elementary fundamentals of equitation excluding diagonals.
