Purpose

  • To provide a beginner and intermediate equitation medal classes at CHSA recognized shows.
  • To provide a CHSA Medal Finals at the CHSA Finals.
  • To promote CHSA and the benefits of membership.
  • To increase participation at CHSA approved horse shows.

CHSA Medal Rules and Regulations

  1. Only active CHSA members with a current membership are eligible to accumulate points.
  2. For any class to count, at least 3 riders must complete the class, with at least 1 rider being a current CHSA member.
  3. Non-CHSA members may complete the class, but they must be CHSA members to accumulate points.
  4. Each CHSA Medal Hunt Seat Equitation class will be shown over a course of not less than eight vertical fences and require at least 2 of the current USEF Tests 1- 8.  Judges may require additional testing.
  5. Exhibitors may compete in only one CHSA Medal Class per show.
  6. Points are scored 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/2 regardless of the classification of the show or the number of entrants in the class.
  7. Shows may offer one of each type of CHSA Medal class per show. This applies to one-day or multi-day shows.
  8. Each show must offer in the prizelist at least 2 of the CHSA Medal Classes.
  9. Each show will pay CHSA $5.00 per Medal entry per class to a maximum of $75 per class.  Payment must accompany the show results and be received no later than ten (10) days after the show is held.

Qualification for CHSA Medal Finals

  1. Riders qualify by accumulating 12 or more points in CHSA Medal Classes held at Recognized Shows during the qualifying period.
  2. Riders may continue to enter CHSA Medal classes after they have accumulated the 12 points needed to qualify.
  3. The Top 30 qualified CHSA Medal Riders in each Class will be eligible to participate in the CHSA Medal Finals.
  4. Once you reach 70 points you automatically qualify for the 2011 CHSA Finals for that Medal Class and you are exempt from showing in that Medal Class for the rest of the showing season.
  5. A minimum of 10 riders must have accumulated 12 points for the Class to qualify to participate in the CHSA Medal Finals.
  6. Even if they have qualified for multiple CHSA Medal Classes, competitors may only compete in one Equitation Medal Class at the CHSA Finals in a given year.
  7. The 2012 qualifying period runs from August 1, 2011 until Sunday, July 29, 2012 The last show to qualify will be the End oF Hunt Horse Show held on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
  8. The CHSA Medal Finals will be held as part of the CHSA Finals on August 24- 26, 2012.

 

2011 CHSA Medals Class Descriptions

CHSA Short Stirrup Equitation Medal:
Open to riders 12 years and under as of December 1, 2011; at least one rider must be a current member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Short Stirrup Equitation; and have not shown over a course where fences exceeded 18” at a recognized show. The class will be held over a course of not less than eight x-rails or vertical fences at 18″ in height, which must contain two tests from the current USEF Tests 1-8.

CHSA Pre-Children’s Equitation Medal:
Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18th birthday; at least one rider must be a current member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Pre-Children’s Equitation and have not shown over a course where fences exceeded 2’6” at a recognized show.  The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2’ in height, which must contain two tests from the current USEF Tests 1-8.

CHSA Modified Adult Equitation Medal:
Open to Amateur Adult Members; at least one rider must be a current member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Modified Adult Equitation and have not shown over a course with fences 3’ or higher at more than three recognized horse shows within the past two show years.  The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2’6” in height, which must contain two tests from the current USEF Tests 1-8.

CHSA Children’s Equitation Medal:
Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18th birthday; at least one rider must be a current member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Children’s Equitation and have not shown over a course where fences exceeded 3’ at a recognized show.  The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2’6” in height, which must contain two tests from the current USEF Tests 1-8.

CHSA SADDLE SEAT MEDAL CLASS:
Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18th birthday; at least one rider must be a member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Saddle Seat.  Exhibitors to show in proper saddle seat attire and tack at the walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring.  The judge must ask for at least two individual tests from USEF Saddle Seat Tests 1-16.

CHSA WESTERN SEAT MEDAL CLASS:
Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18th birthday; at least one rider must be a member of CHSA and all riders must be eligible for Saddle Seat.  Exhibitors to show in proper Western tack and attire – (chaps and boots are required).  Entries will show at a walk, jog and lope both ways of the ring.  The judge must ask for at least two individual tests from USEF Western Seat Tests 1-11.
